"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!

It's all black sharpie, regular, not fine tip (the fine tips aren't true black, more like a dark, coppery maroon). If you have an electric (solidbody) guitar then you could probably do the finishing yourself; polyurethane does the trick pretty well. If you have an acoustic then I would sand the finish lightly to prep it if it's gloss, or just work on top of it if it's satin (matte). After you get done with the artwork just take the guitar to a luthier and have him seal the work in with gloss lacquer; tell him you need a very thin coat so as not to compromise the tone. Also, you may have to touch up the artwork midway through the process since some might come off after a preliminary buffing. That's pretty much it.
